Sweet Sunday: Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

There’s something special about the smell of freshly baked cookies wafting through the house, and this week’s Sweet Sunday is dedicated to a classic that’s close to our hearts: Joseph’s Chocolate Chip Cookies. This recipe is a staple in our home—rich, gooey, and absolutely irresistible.

We recently celebrated Bake Cookies Day on December 18 by doing what we do best: baking up a storm! But why stop there? This Sunday, we’re spreading the sweetness around by delivering these homemade treats to a few of my clients who have been extra good this year. Because cookies aren’t just desserts—they’re little bundles of joy wrapped in chocolatey goodness.

Joseph’s recipe is simple yet perfect. Whether you’re a pro baker or just dipping your toes into the cookie dough, this is one recipe you’ll want to keep in your repertoire.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter, softened (room temperature)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 eggs (room temperature)

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  1. In a stand mixer, cream the butter until fluffy.
  2. Slowly add granulated sugar and brown sugar, mixing until fully incorporated and slightly lighter in color.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Add half of the dry mixture to the wet mixture, incorporating gently to avoid overmixing. Repeat with the remaining half.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips, one-third at a time.
  7. Scoop onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350°F for 11-13 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Let cool and enjoy!

As we wrap up this Sweet Sunday and gear up for 2025, I’m reminded of how sweet life—and real estate—can be. Like a good cookie recipe, finding the right home takes the perfect mix of ingredients: care, attention to detail, and a dash of love.

So here’s to more sweet moments, whether in your dream home or your kitchen, and a cheers to a fabulous 2025!
